End of an Era

What can I say about these Adidas gazelle trainers, when the picture says it all? This well-worn twosome have graced the feet of my husband for so long that I wouldn’t care to say. While they transport shabby chic to a whole new level, for some reason, my other half finds difficulty in sending them on their merry way.

We made a pact recently, that if I got him another pair for his birthday, it would be time for them to take a hike. The brand new gazelles have arrived in the post and the originals are as reluctant as their owner to say goodbye.

Is this a man thing? I’m wondering if the retro element is part of the appeal, harking back to the teenage years a couple of, ahem, decades ago.

Anyway, I’m hoping this is a final farewell to a once fine pair of footwear – having seen plenty of football games and jogging trips in their time – at least they had an active life.

Café Culture

Sound Communications’ client, Two’s Company Catering, has opened new premises in Derry-Londonderry – Café Soul, in the Guildhall Square. Café Soul plans to offer a place for punters to grab a homely bite to eat, while sampling some of the city’s culture, from photographs hung by local artists, to the occasional musical performance in the evening. I’m looking forward to getting down there myself and enjoying what’s left of the Summer vibes.
