Excited about 2013?

I sure am, if last weekend’s events are anything to go by.

The legenderry Peace Bridge launch went swimmingly, with entertainment on both sides of the bridge from the Carnivale of Colours and the One World Festival. The city really felt like a vibrant, buzzing place to be, and the new bridge is the latest place to flex those muscles and have an old chinwag at the same time.

This wee neck of the woods has produced more than its fair share of cultural icons, and it’ll soon be time to bring the world to the doorstep of Derry-Londonderry to try a taste of our culture. I personally CAN’T WAIT!

Mad Cap Antics for Carnivale of Colours

Derry-Londonderry has the chance to sample some mad cap entertainment at the Carnivale of Colours festival taking place on 25th & 26th June at St Columb’s Park.

The family friendly event, organised by In Your Space, will feature the alternative entertainers Anyone for Tennis and the Lords of Strut. The former playing a hilarious ‘one setter’ act and the latter turning pop and dance into comic circus and acrobatics.

This year’s event will coincide with the launch of the city’s Peace Bridge, and weekend-long entertainment is being programmed by festival organisers In Your Space in the Waterside, and the One World Festival in the Cityside.

Seamus, Director, said: “We are are counting down the days now in the lead-up to our festival. Carnivale of Colours is growing year on year and this year’s entertainment will give Derry-Londonderry audiences the taste of something different with outdoor perfomances and carnivale entertainers with a difference.

“The carnivale extravanganza will provide the public with the chance to sample a taste of what’s to come culturally in 2013. The city has always punched above its weight in its cultural output, but we are certainly looking forward to making this a weekend to remember.”

Performances from In Your Space will take place by the Peace Bridge in Ebrington and at St Columb’s Park, at the same time as cityside entertainment in the Guildhall Square and the Craft Village provided by the One World Festival.
