Carnivale of Colours takes a New Spin

The Carnivale of Colours has secured Mr Spin, Australia’s world renowned juggling performer, as a headline act at the St Columb’s Park event on 25th and 26th June.

Award-winning Mr Spin is set to be a crowd puller, with “his ferocious energy and charismatic wit”,and was recently awarded the ‘People’s Choice’ prize for entertainment at the American Festival of Fools 2009, and the winner of the UK’s ‘Fool of Muncaster’ event, 2010.

The family friendly event, whose artists include home-grown circus school talent, is being held this year in conjunction with the launch of the Peace Bridge on Saturday 25th June.

John Burns, Creative Director, said: “Carnivale of Colours 2011 is our biggest and best event yet, not only due to the concurrent launch of the Peace Bridge, but with the help of our funders Ilex, Derry City Council, Arts Council, BBC Children in Need, we are now able to attract high profile entertainers from all around the world.”

In Your Space was established ten years ago as a collective of freelance artists and circus performers – this is the festival’s fourth year.

John added: “The opening up of the bridge widens our target audience even further. This is an event for all the family, with big top shows, bands and more exciting day/night-time performances to be revealed. Now cityside dwellers will be able to walk over the Peace Bridge, from the town centre, to sample some of our entertainment at Ebrington and St Columb’s Park.”

Business Women Inside Out

Women in Enterprise (WIE) is hosting Inside Out, a gala event on 9th June at the Waterfoot Hotel, at 6.45pm.

The feel-good event will be led by local business woman and life coach, Helen Mc Donnell, who will advise the audience on how to tap into their inner calm, and use it in the workplace and the home environment, to feel good from the inside out.

Julie Pollock, Chair of WIE, said: “This is another exciting Women in Enterprise event. For working women, many of whom leading busy family lives, this event will focus on ways of feeling good from the inside out. The gala dinner offers members and women in the workplace the chance to share experiences, and learn from each other, as well to meet new colleagues.”

The night will also feature a fashion show to showcase style, hair and beauty from local retail businesses.

Inside Out is organised by WIE and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and is an annual networking event, with a drinks reception and dinner.

Michelle Simpson of CMI said: “This event provides a value for money opportunity for women in business to mingle and make new contacts, and to enjoy the company of like-minded women business acquaintances. It offers an opportunity for local women to get their heads together and collaborate, as well as letting their hair down at the same time.”
