Pure Class!

Sound Communications welcomes a new client on board – Pure Magazine, Derry. Pure Magazine has recently been awarded the CIPR Press & Broadcast Awards Best Publication in NI 2010. The company, Pure Inc. is run by David Kavanagh and Sinead Melaugh (pictured), and the magazine is aimed at a readership from ages 18-40. Sound Communications has recently enjoyed giving PR and event management support to the team.

Pure magazine is a North West based publication and is soon to be launched in Belfast. The free monthly publication, under the efforts of editor, Mary-Anne Mc Nulty, often secures exclusive A-list interviews. Pure are looking forward to getting involved in future exciting events, having just run an all expenses showing of Sex & the City 2 at a local cinema with pre and after-show parties. North West Glossy Shines at PR Awards

Derry’s Pure Magazine has been given the coveted title of Best Magazine at the Coca Cola CIPR Press and Broadcast Awards 2010, at the Europa Hotel, Belfast on Friday 11th June.

The independently run publication team are celebrating their achievement. Director David Kavanagh said: “We are over the moon to be receiving such an honour, given that we are a small independent business which was started up during the recession. We are delighted that our efforts have not been in vain and that Pure magazine is receiving the recognition it deserves. We would like to thank everyone involved with the magazine in helping to make it a success”.

The company was given the award in a ceremony presented by BBC News presenter Bill Turnbull. Entries were judged by independent judging panels in London and Dublin of media professionals.

One of the judges, John Willman said: “Pure is a very stylish and striking addition to the Northern Ireland media scene. A free magazine distributed in the north-west, it has a sharp eye for trends and an impressive ability to land interviews with big-name celebrities. The small team has targeted an 18-40 demographic, complementing the print version with a developing online presence, initially through Facebook.

“Launching a high-quality, colour, free magazine in 2008 showed considerable bravado, but Pure deserves its initial success. What regional magazine would not want the string of interviews it has landed, with stars such as Jamie Oliver, Alan Carr and Ellie Goulding? `Stand-out design, stand-out editorial’ is what Pure promises – and it certainly delivers.”

Pure magazine was founded two years ago by David Kavanagh and Sinead Melaugh who saw an opening for a free monthly lifestyle/entertainment magazine, aimed at the younger reader. It is the second award the magazine has received, following on from winning the Publishing category at the SME Awards in 2008.

Sinead Melaugh, Director, added: “This is such good news for us and we want to thank all our champions such as the businesses who have supported us so far, as well as our readers who are glued to each edition. Pure have many more exciting things in store to unveil for the year ahead so keep plugged into the magazine each month”. For more details see www.pure-mag.co.uk
